In it, you will find instructions on how to install and upgrade Plesk on one or many servers, complemented with examples for the different platforms Plesk supports. The guide is structured so as to provide specific instructions to the different types of Plesk users based on their usual activities and needs. Most of the examples in this guide can be copied and pasted into the command line with no or minimal changes, which should be useful to users with no or little system administration skills.

I need to occasionally deploy virtual servers with Plesk on demand

Cloning Plesk servers is usually the way to go in this case. See Deploying Plesk Servers by Cloning.

I need to deploy multiple Plesk servers simultaneously

Plesk command line tools enable automated (unattended) installation process.

It will also be helpful to set up a local mirror repository in order to optimize package downloads. For instructions, see Mirroring Plesk Autoinstall Servers.

I need to install Plesk for my work

Plesk installer works in interactive mode. It will ask a series of questions to determine what components should be installed. There are two alternative ways of launching the installer – in the command line and in a browser.

If you do not own a server, you can purchase a virtual server from one of the Public Cloud vendors (for example, Amazon), and install Plesk there. For instructions, see Plesk Installation and Upgrade on Public Cloud Service.

The choice of license depends on the type of business you are running. If you need Plesk to manage your company’s or client’s web and mail server, you should go with Web Admin. If you are a web studio who also hosts their clients’ web sites, you may go with Web Pro.

I need to upgrade my Plesk

The easiest way to upgrade Plesk to the latest version is to do it using the server configuration and management tools available to the Plesk administrator directly in the GUI. For instructions, see Upgrading Plesk Using Administrator GUI.

If you wish to have more flexibility in choosing a version and a tier for upgrading, use the interactive installer.
